Saturday Fun

I have been anticipating this morning for 2 days.  Mardi Gras is being celebrated here.  I have never experienced a Mardi Gras celebration...wondering about the excitement it might hold.  I wonder no more.  Fun, fun, and, more fun.  My neighbors were in full costume, spreading the joy.  There was even a boat parade.  The morning has been sunny and windy, with a  brutally cold chill factor.   And I thought I was in Florida.  What a surprise!!  Sunny yes, warm no.  Not even close.   But even the shivery conditions didn't stop the thrill.  I think I have lived underground all my life.  NOT ANY MORE...  As I was standing at the end of the pier, holding on so the wind did not send me in the gulf  for a swim, watching the boats, all decorated and the passengers as well, along with throwing beads to us, was just icing on the cake.   I felt like a kid viewing her first circus!!
I even saw my first dolphin swimming in the gulf.  My camera was too slow to catch him out of the water.  I am so hoping I get another chance.  I even watched a dad and his sons crabbing with a big cage.  Just like the tv show, The Deadliest Catch, except the game was with crabs and not lobsters.  When the dad pulled his cage up, to his surprise, it held only one crab.  I felt really sorry for him.  It didn't bother him.  He just tossed the cage back in the water to try again.

I really did see a dolphin
                                                                          My neighbors
                                                         An osprey gliding overhead
                                                                FUN...FUN...FUN

I caught 2 necklaces, yahoo!!

Only one crab...guess it's better than none

Tim said I had to be in it also.  So it's me, working on my blog

It is 2:00 and we are off to what else we can discover.

Okey.......Now I see.........I'll type this again.........
Glad to see you all enjoying your self. If you get a chance, go over to Mobile, Al. and check out their Mardi Gras. We've been to it a good number of years. Two of my sisters and brothers-in-law belonged to some of the Mardi Gras organations. In years past, we've brought home a shopping bag full of beads and three full of Moon Pies ! Mardi Gras was started in Mobile . When it starts in Mobile, it'll go on for two weeks. Parades about every night. If you go, try to park down on Water Street. Get there around 4:00 pm. While you are in the area, the Naval Air Station in Pensacola has a good museum. Tim may enjoy the USS Alabama. Check out Fort Condi and Fort Morgan. there is a lot to see in and around Mobile. The last slave sold in America was down just off Government Street. There's a marker telling of it. You all have a great stay there and look around. A lot to see. Ralph an' Jan
