Thursday, Good Day

This has been a good day.  Little cloudy, and breezy most of the day.   Evening was beautiful, sunny with no wind.  We went to Sioux Falls after lunch to run a few errands.  Back for dinner.  Then walked a coupled miles, I think.  Did a little reading, little tv, now reporting to you. 

Thats about it for this good day.

Wednesday, Rain All Day, Day

Rain, that's what it has done all day.  Trying to think what we did today.  We both did some research on our new life...... places to go, work camping, remodeling the coach.  Just passing the time away.  There is always research.  Tried to give our coach a homey touch by hanging pictures from home.  Love um.  Did some reading, watched some tv, had to cook inside because of the rain.  Thank goodness for the fireplace, chilly today.  Days with nothing on the agenda, pretty awesome.  No pics today.  Boo hoo.

Tuesday, Oh My Gosh

I have to truly say, I did not know, I did not report to you all yesterday.  Tim just shared that fact with me.  He said I slept right thru it.  We did go for a long walk after dinner.  Returned home just about dark.  We saw another rainbow walking home, far away from us.  It had not rained here, but the sky was black, a distance away.  Tim yelled that there was another rainbow in the sky.  Just a piece of one.  Still a beauty.  Fell asleep on the couch, yep, that was me.

Now for today, after spending 3 1/2 hrs at the drivers license office in Sioux Falls, Tim and I now have SD license.  Woo hooo...That is one step closer to becoming residents of the great state of SD.  More tomorrow.

Sunday, Good to Bad Day to Great Day

This day started as a great day...sunny, flies not as bad as yesterday, little windy but not too strong, watched tv, Indy 500,  read a little.  Then after dinner, thunderstorms came rolling in.  Actually, the threat of one.  We are still in a thunderstorm warning.  Had really black skies about an hour ago.  Tim and I were walking the campground as the sky darkened quickly.  Almost ran back to the coach.  TV keeps showing the warning, but the sky above us doesn't represent thunderstorms with ping pong size hail.  We covered the hood of the jeep, just in case. 

Talked to a truck driver and his wife while walking, and guess what, they were from Pendleton, SC
Clemson area.  Jacki lived in Pendleton her last year at Clemson.   Also, he had good friends from Middletown -our hometown and Kettering, Ohio.  It is such a small world. 

Found out about the little black flies.  A new stockyard was built resently across the road from the side of this campground.  As I said earlier, not such a nuience as yesterday.  We went and purchased some fly spray.  That was also a help.

Saturday, Oh What A Day

I want to start by first sending my mom a happy birthday love-gram all the way to heaven.   Don't know how much I believe the phrase, time heals all.   I love you mom, still miss you.

We ran a couple errands today.   One was getting new tires for the jeep.   The other was getting rope to help the slide awning not flap in all this wind.   And it worked.

After returning home, the sun appeared, but also did all these pesty little black biting flies.   They drove me right into the coach.   So hoping this was a one day deal.   Or we may have to move.

I have a big fat wish for all my family and friends...have a nice holiday weekend!!!!!

Friday, Sioux Falls Visit

This morning, we took off to Sioux Falls, about 15 minutes north of our campground. It was a crazy busy ciy. Charlotte is a piece of cake compared to Sioux Falls. We went to become SD residents, but that didn't happen. As it turned out, we only received the info needed to get that job done. So back we will go on Tuesday to complete this project.

A couple we met at Charlotte racetrack, is also coming to Sioux Falls, the first of June. We checked out the campground where they are going to be staying, oh, what a mess. Sure glad we did not choose that one. So Tim shot him an email, sharing what we saw. They have to pass our campground, going to theirs, so maybe they will decide to come back here. That would be great.

Today was a gray, cool day. Hoping for sun tomorrow.

Thursday, Rain and Rest

I can actually say rain was welcoming today. It went along with my resting. About the only thing I did today was laundry.   Tomorrow is business day.   We become South Dakota residents, and handle all the other exchanges from NC to SD.   If I think to much about it, saddens me a little to give up part of the last 25 years. But a new beginning is on its way.

Wednesday, Here Early

We are here, in Lennox, SD, at Countryside RV Park, a day early.  Tired and not doing anything until tomorrow.  Our drive today was the toughest, yet.  Strong head winds and a road with many small hills, or slight inclines, killed our gas mileage...going 50 mph on I 80, a sad 3.25 mpg.  Then on I 29, in  Iowa, with no wind, and a straight road, how does 11.25 mpg at 59 mph sound?  Much better, huh...

A couple interesting observations along the way...names of creeks and rivers like, South Skunk River, Raccoon River, Soldier River, Pigeon Creek, and my fave, Kickapoo Creek, crossed it a couple times.
Also watched a small flock of vultures, circling high in the sky, and guess over what...a cemetary.  A little amusement for the day.

Tuesday, Travel Day # 2

We drove about 7 hrs today.  Stopped in Newton, Iowa, Walmart again.   No problems, smooth sailing.  Will let my pics do the reporting for today.

Monday, Travel Day x 4

We are on the road, and yes it will take 4 days. We plan to travel until 3:00pm, or so...4 to 6 hours per day. If all goes well, we should get to Sioux Falls Thursday, noonish. Tonight, we are in Champaign, Ill. at where else but Walmart parking lot. Gotta love Walmart!!!

The drive has been great. Worried little about Indianapolis, the traffic, but we breezed right through. Just returned from dinner...ate way to much. Could kick myself for overeating. As soon as we settle in South Dakota, going back to disciplining my eating habits, and exercise, exercise, and exercise. Tim is going to join me. He is napping right now. Driving tires him, tension gets him and overeating sends him to lala land.

Sunday, Final Day

What a wonderful last day we had.  I went to my dads for my, see ya later, good by.  Then headed to Charlottes for the rest of the day.  Had a scrumptious dinner there, steak, baked pot., fresh corn on the cob, salad, yummy hot rolls, ended with lemon meringue pie.  Sweetie, I didn't know you could cook!!!  haha, ready did.  She makes a killer mac and cheese.  Wow, so delicious!!  After that, Tim had another Father's Day celebration.  A big surprise...new 24 in tv for our bedroom.  Super awesome.  Sure wish we were staying long enough to get help in hanging it.  But, no fear, Tim will conquer it. 

Our visit here has been crazy good.  Loved every minute.  So great  being with family and friends.  Going to miss you all, but time flys by so fast, we will be back before you know it.  And if I really start missing folks...US Air, here I come.

Our next stop will be Sioux Falls, SD.  There, we will become South Dakota residents.  Should take us about 4 days.  Please stay tuned for the next chapter.

Saturday, Continuing Great Days

Yes, another great day.  I think any day spent with family becomes a great day.  Especially when family members are scattered around the US.  Danielle, my niece from Indiana and her new husband, Pete came to town for the weekend.  They came here...had a wonderful visit.  Then we all went to dinner with my sister Beth, her family, and my dad and stepmom.  More delicious pizza and salad.  Went to Beth's house afterwards.  Lots of chatting going on, lots of fun.  Then Danielle wanted ice cream.  And you know, when your expecting, you always get anything you want.  So off we went to the ice cream parlar.  Yes, I was still stuffed from pizza, but it would be rude not to get ice cream also.  I always eat way, way to much in Ohio.  Have lots of fun doing it. 

Drove into  the park and wow, the smell of burning campfires was so amorous.  Night is upon us.  Very quiet here.  So peaceful.  Loving it.......

Life is great.

Problems happen, just give them to God.  He wants them.  He wants to help you.  Believe he will and He will.

Friday, Another Great Day

This has definitely been a wonderful day.  Started out as normal, laundry, tidy a little, shower, lunch, then off for some action.  Met my dad, stepmom, and brother, sister in law for dinner at Golden Coral.  Ate way to much.  After that, went to see Charlotte at work.  Met her boss.  She, Charlotte, is soooo funny.  Getting gas was next stop.  While Tim pumped the fuel, received a call from my friends Connie and Gene. They just returned from a trip to Branson and Texas.  I think Texas, maybe Kansas.  They asked us to come over, which we did.  Had a really good time, just chatting.  They have a beautiful home.  And let me tell you one of Gene's toys... a georgious Honda Gold Wing.  I could only get the word, wow out.  It was huge. Simply a masterpiece.  Wish I had a pic to share with you, but no.  Maybe another time.

Back home, writing you, resting a little and Tim asked for strawberries and cool whip.  I am still stuffed but I know I'll have some anyway.  No will power for me.  At least strawberries are good for us.

Thursday, Super Great Day

This has been a marvelous day.  Had the privilege of watching Trace today.  He was so good.  Loved every minute of it.  Even the dirty diapers...Then had dinner with Charlotte and her family, except Luke.  `Had great pizza and great family fun. 

On the way home, we saw another hot air balloon.  It was a smily face.  Sooooo cooooooool.

Returned home just in time to see American Idol.   Yahoooo for Philip.  Rooting for him.

Wednesday, Just a Wednesday

That is all I can say about today.   Just another day...not anything to report.  Did some laundry, grocery shopping, chatted with a few campers.  I did have a first for me, saw a hairless rat terrier.  He had a very handsome face, all black.  First thought he was a Chinese crested.  His legs were spotty.  I had seen him a few times being walked.  Got up close and wow!  Had a red sweater on with his mostly, jet black skin, and again, wow!  Maybe I will get a pic of him before I leave. 

Tim is back to normal.  Yahooooooo for that.

Ending this day with American Idol.  Hope every one's day has been perfect.  Mine has.

Tuesday, Beautiful Day

Today has been a beautiful day.   Lots of sun, little breeze, very calm day.  Even though this day was awesome, dark point...Tim had a slight bug, touch of virus, or something like that.  Still feels puny, but better.  Missed my dad's ballgame, but had a great visit this afternoon.  He is dog sitting a magnificent St. Bernard for a family member.  This creature is almost as big as my pop.  Can't find this beauty's name in my head,  but know you all will agree, he could win trophies.  Maybe has...who knows.
