Saturday, Another Hotty

I know it seems like the whole country is in a heat wave.  100 again today and tomorrow and all next week.   Am inside now, enjoying the AIR, was reading earlier out under the awning, too hot........
Went on an errand this morning, purchased some insulation for the front windows of the coach.   It sure is making a difference.   Going to get more next week, cover a couple more windows.   Not having my chef grill out supper.   Having BLTs, not our ts, Walmarts.   Several of ours are ripening...maybe ready to pick next week.

Tim is mounting the tv in the bedroom

                                                           Our neighbors, the burros

That's it for tonight.

Thursday, Beautiful Day

This day started around 5:00am...coffee outside, cool with a light breeze.   What an awesome sight, staring at Chimney Rock.  My chef chose to cook breakfast out.   He has a new grill.   It is, well, I will photo him while dinner is being prepared.

Going to the big city, errand day.  The big city would be Scottsbluff.   It also has gorgeous mountain formations.  The North Platte River flows around the city.   Lewis and Clark followed the river during their travels.

Took a 4 mile bike ride early morning to the Chimney Rock and back.   Stayed on the paved road and not the dirt road.   Don't get as close to the Rock, but easier on my muscles and nerves.   Still working on my confidence with my bike riding.

Returned from our errand trip...101 in the blazen heat, with 14% humidity.  You know 101 in hot, with or without humidity.  We did not have the air on when we left.  Man, was our coach an oven.  We have 2 air conditioners, one in bedroom and one in living room area.  Both are running full blast... still waiting for cooler times.  We will be more careful next time we venture out.

Wish you could have seen the amazing brightness

Tuesday, God's Gifts

Good day to youall, and a good day it has been, so far.  We had a beautiful morning, coffee outside, watching the bunnies scampering around, and listening to the meadowlark.   The weather was perfect, sunny, cool, pinch of a breeze.   After breakfast, on my bike, I went to see how close I could get to Chimney Rock.  Not close enough...will try again tomorrow.   On the way up, passed the Visitor Center but not opened yet.   Kept trucking up this dirt trail.  My poor out of shape legs pulled me thru and I made it to the top.  Went to the side of the path to let a truck pass and he stopped.   Chatted with him for a while.   A government geologist, Dale was out to do....are you ready for this, COUNTING GRASSHOPPERS.  Thats right.   Seems like if the grasshopper population multiplies readily, danger to the grass occurs.  They eat grass, weeds, down to the roots.  So, Dales job is to count, collect, and report his findings.   What a job!!!!!!!  Dale also shared some history of this area, and places to go.   I wish I had a tape recorder because I could not possibly remember all he was sharing.   A blessing plopped right in my lap.   Life doesn't get much better than that.

The next pleasure I received was taking a trek on the Oregon Trail.   Just a dirt trail, but to think of the covered wagons riding that same trail many moons ago, awesome.

Back home, Tim dropped me off at the post(camp store), and another yummy freshly made warm waffle cone with peanut buttercup ice cream was down in my belly like a flash.

Now, I ask you, can life be much better than what this day delivered to me????????

Charming bloom from a cactus at camp
                                                              Bayard, population 1156
                                                            My official home, for now
                                                         My new interest, water towers
Unusual sights

Same time as the Oregon Trail

Never have seen hay bales stacked so high

It is 106 at 5:00,  dinner time...veggi burgers.  Glad the chef is cooking them, and that would not be me.

Life is so wonderful

Monday, HOT. HOT. HOT

All I can say for today is hot.   Just checked weather channel...reading is 109 for us.   Now, that's a little warm.   The air is thick.   Storms are around us, but not near.   We had a storm last night and lost our electricity for a couple hours.  That's when a generator comes in handy.

We explored the town of Scottsbluff today.   It's about 15 minutes north west.   It also has unusual rock formation.   And, it has a Walmart.  Yeah.... Decided to observe today, going back in 2-3 days, will photo interesting sights then.

Highlights of the day....phone call from Jacki and FaceTime from granddaughter, Molli.  Molli wanted to show us her garden...it was awesome, and she painted her shutters, kind of barn red, I think.   Her house is sits in the curve of a cultisac.   Her painted shutters make the house, pop.   Good job Molli.   Another highlight, vanilla coke from Sonic.

Went outside to sit with Tim, but, man oh man, 25 mph winds, will blow you away.   Between horrific winds, 104f, and biting flies, sorry Tim, but I'm going back in.

Hope everyone had a marvelous day.   I surely did.

Life is good
Life is truly what we make it to be

Sunday, Morning Blessings To All

A beautiful Sunday morning it is, even with cloudy skies and flies.   Adventured out for an early morning bike ride.   I actually rode the rode for a short distance.   Normally not my choice of locations.  But, being in the middle of NO WHERE, felt secure.   Even went about a mile down a gravel road.  I am soooooo brave.   Returned back at the ranch to find the chief, scrubbing the coach's windshield.   After downing a jug of ice water and a quick rest, breakfast was served by the chief.
  I live a wonderful life.

No plans for today.   Am going to try posting pics again.

More to come...

Took a walk before lunch...the exact same as my bike ride, as Tim napped.  Returned, he said I woke him as I closed the door leaving.  So much for giving him peace and quiet.

New pics, hopefully better than before

                                                                    Last night's sunset

Friday, We Are Here

Where,  Chimney Rock, actually we are in a small town, Bayard, Nebraska.   And, it has a huge rock formation named Chimney Rock.   Doesn't look like a chimney to me, maybe once when someone named it.  But, it is very unique.  The Internet is not very strong, again, so pics will come hopefully tomorrow.   I love this campground.   Don't know why.....only 16 sites, amenities, not much.   As soon as we pulled in, it was love at first site.   Just like with Tim and me.  Ha Ha.   Hopefully when you see it, you will understand why.

Until the pics come, I will describe my new home for 30 days.   As you turn in, the Chimney Rock is just popping right out at you.  Then, there are 2 burros, not donkeys as I was corrected, and 2 horses, one brown, the other a beautiful black and white paint.  There is also a large, old windmill, building has an old western looking front.   A topless stage coach stands tall in front.   Also a large pond sparkles has the sun shines down on it.

It is now Saturday. Continuing from yesterday...  It offers homemade waffe cones and ice cream.  Just finished my first, Reeces Peanut Butter Cup.  Awesome.  I quickly popped a few pics yesterday.
Will try to post them.

                                                                       Chimney Rock
Will share their names and better pics later

Posting before losing this

Just posted on Wednesday's post.  Don't really know why except it was my Badland post.  Anyway, tried to retrieve my ipad pics that I sent to my yahoo email.   My blog said no because it wasn't an image.  I didn't know a picture wasn't an image.  Can anyone out there help?

It's still Saturday news...temp, 104 thats right.  Think we are in the wrong location.  Should be someplace cooler now and warmer in winter.  Maybe next year we will work it out correctly.

I may have added info on previous days, check back since leaving Sioux Falls, if interested.  Will try to post pics of my travels to locations at another time.  Always leary of losing my posting now.

This is it for tonight, maybe

Life is so good

Life is about new adventures, surroundings, new critters, big and small.  They, the critters, are really my fave,  love the awesome rock formations, but it comes second to beautiful chirping meadowloarks.

Nite to all my family and friends
Love you much

Saturday, Try Again Day

Internet working a little so thought I would post some pics of the Badland and Black Hills.....

Should be first pic, campground at Badlands

                                                 They are so unbelievably breathtaking
Posting these, more to come

Wednesday, Catching Up Day

It has been since Sunday.   I am soooo bad.   Good reasons, but still BAD.   I will start by saying we are in the Badlands National Park in SD. OMG, what a beautiful place.   My wish would be for everyone to have the chance to visit this awesome masterpiece.   I have one more day here, going back to where the buffalo roam.  They are my very most fave creature on this wonderful earth.   And, I was so close to one this morning , I could have touched him, but wanted him to stay calm.   And of course, camera...memory card full 5 minutes before my eyes spotted that big bad boy.   New memory card now, so tomorrow will be even better than today.

We also went to the Black Hills to see the number one, top most wanted to do on my bucket list, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse.  I cannot think of words to describe them, except just plain and simple, AWESOME.  Camera problems, again, could not take my joy away. Almost, but no.   No pics from Crazy Horse but I used my IPad for the presidents.  Now that is a little story in itself. Have not taken pics with it since Christmas.  Didn't like the way they looked...grainy.   So with my memory, did I remember how to even use it for a camera?  That would be a big fat nooooooo.   Finally managed that task for about four pics, then something went wrong.  Cameras and I just bang heads a lot.   After getting home, conquered my, yes, my problem.   I had flipped it on video.   It was not making the same sound as before, so I thought...not working.   Now, my new challenge, will be to transfer those pics over to my laptop.   Sounds easy huh?   Yeah, no.   But somehow I will manage.   Way to long of a story, back to my sightseeing.   As in another of my blogs, I chose to let my pics do the talking.   Again will choose the same....please enjoy!!!!!

I'm patiently waiting my turn for the laptop. You see, Tim uses that, and I, my ipad. He is working diligently on our next adventure. That would be Chimney Rock, Nebraska.  I would never ask to have it while Tim is in the middle of something.   You know, I see it is 10:00 here, so for most of you, that means 12:00, and youall are in bed now anyway.   So, tell you what I'm going to do...post this and, tomorrow, come the pictures.   I do have a few.   Since we left our last location in Sioux Falls, maybe 110.   Just don't tell Tim.   He thinks I take way to many.

Nite all
Life is sooo good, to me

Well, having trouble transferring my pics from the ipad to this blog.  I emailed them to my yahoo mail, then tried to post to blog, but blog said it needed to be image.  Last time I checked, a pic was an image.  Sorry, can't share yet, will keep trying.  Any ideas out there?

Saturday, Work, then Play, Day

Tim says his dad taught him, his work had to be done before he could play.  We planned to go to a car show today.  After breakfast, Tim decided to wash the coach.  So.....I heard it again, number 6,222 times in 45 years,  work then play.  It is now after lunch, coach had it's bath, and the car show awaits us.  Off we go to Marion, SD.  Small city of 781 folks...named after daughter of a railroad official.  Frank Joseph Bausch, born in Marion, played NFLin the '30s and '40s, for Redskins, Bears, and Eagles.  Back to the car show,  probably 40 cars, some new some in the 30's, and some in between.  Had a good time.  Best part was, Tim decided he wanted to be a judge for car shows.  Love the idea...he will be tough, and fair.  He can put his knowledge to work.  Will keep you informed on how this idea progresses.

After the car show, we toured the city of Marion.  A beautiful small town, very patriotic.  On the way home, we drove through a couple more small towns.  So very interesting.  One was named Tea, thats right...population 3806, in the county of Lincoln.  How about that, my NC friends.  For everyone else, we lived in Lincoln Co. before starting on this adventure.  And actually, my campground is also in Lincoln County.  We purchased our tags for the jeep and coach there. The town of Tea, was having a Teapot Festival.  So we stopped by, walked around...fun,fun,fun.  We also played tourist and drove around this quaint little town.  Onward home, passing Parker, SD, population 1022.  It was my favorite.  Again, very patriotic, statutes honoring veterans of all the wars.  All three towns, as most towns in this region, have corn as major crop business.

Returned home, rested a bit, then dinner time.  A wonderful day we had.

                                                             Work comes before play

                                                                     Marion Car Show

                                                                          Beautiful

Marion, The Best Place To Call Home

Train cars lined up, filled up, waiting on the engines
And there they, the engines, come all four of them
Corn elevators right on the edge of downtown Parker
Another statue honoring soldiers at Parker City Park.

                                                         Welcome to Teapot Festival
                                                                  Lots of carnival rides

Sorry, this report is so long, just wanted to share my experiences.  You can all go to bed now.

I will end this day noting that, life is what we make of it, and I made mine spectacular.

Life is good
